Ingredients of the drug Forro fort:
Ferrous glycine sulfate equivalent to 80 mg of elemental iron plus 1 mg of folic acid
Mechanism of action of Forro fort:
Due to its resistant coating, Ferrofort Gain is not affected by the acidic environment of the stomach and opens and absorbs iron in the absorption window in the digestive system, and eliminates the lack of iron caused by malabsorption or increased body need for it. Iron and folic acid in Feroforte Gain play an essential role in the structure of hemoglobin, oxygenation and proper functioning of various cells.
Uses of Forro fort:
In addition to being used to prevent anemia and iron deficiency, this drug is also approved for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia.
Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding:
This product is used during pregnancy and breastfeeding to treat iron and folic acid deficiencies according to the doctor’s prescription.
Pay attention to these points regarding the correct way of consumption:
1- Use this product with the advice of a doctor or pharmacist.
2- Substances in vegetable foods that form complexes with iron (such as phytates, oxalates and phosphates) and also substances in coffee, tea, milk and cola drinks prevent the absorption of iron into the blood.
3- This product should be consumed without chewing and with enough water.
4- This product should be consumed fasting and on an empty stomach in the morning (about an hour before breakfast) or at an appropriate time interval, about 2 hours before or after meals.
5- In case of difficulty in swallowing the capsule, empty the contents completely and transfer it into a soup spoon. Then drink it with sufficient amounts of water.
6- The course of treatment is determined by the doctor.
7- The oral intake of iron should be continued even after the normalization of the hemoglobin results, along with the monitoring of the serum ferritin level.
8- The treatment period is usually 3 to 6 months based on the severity of anemia and individual needs, which may be longer in some cases.
9- In cases where the effect of the product seems to be extremely strong or very weak, consult your doctor.
10- If you forget to take a dose of the product, do not take that dose and continue your normal schedule. Avoid doubling the amount of the product.
Drug interactions Forro fort:
Before using this product, inform your doctor if you are using the following medications:
Painkillers or anti-rheumatism drugs (such as salicylates and phenylbutazone) – the combined use of these drugs with this product can cause irritation of the digestive mucosa.
Anticonvulsant drugs – consumption of high amounts of this product can increase convulsive attacks in patients treated with anticonvulsant drugs.
Tetracyclines, bisphosphonate drugs – absorption of iron is inhibited by tetracyclines and bisphosphonate drugs.
Cholestyramine, drugs containing calcium, magnesium and aluminum (such as antacids, calcium and magnesium substitute salts) – iron absorption is inhibited.
Penicillamine, gold oral compounds, L-methyldopa, levodopa and L-thyroxine – the absorption of these drugs is impaired if they are taken simultaneously with iron.
Fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin and ofloxacin – the absorption of these drugs decreases significantly when taken simultaneously with iron.
Cytotoxic drugs, sulfonamides, antiepileptic drugs and barbiturates – these drugs interfere with the absorption of folic acid.
In general, the time interval between the use of this product and other above-mentioned drugs should be at least 2 hours.
Precautions Forro fort:
1- This product has a high dose, and considering that it is 78.77% higher than the maximum allowed daily intake, it must be taken in consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.
2- Special care is not required while driving and working with equipment that requires full alertness.
3- Benzidine diagnostic test can be positive when taking iron.
4- Due to the possibility of dark stool color, the test for the presence of hidden blood in the stool may be positive.
Forro fort contraindications:
1- Allergy to any of the ingredients of this product
2- High amounts of blood iron (hemochromatosis, chronic hemolysis)
3- In disorders of iron consumption (such as sideroblastic anemia, anemia caused by lead poisoning, thalassemia)
4- In megaloblastic anemia caused by vitamin 12B deficiency (for example, due to lack of intrinsic factor)
5- Consumption in children less than 6 years old
