What is Citalopram?

Brain cells, called neurons, secrete different chemicals to communicate with other neurons. This means that a series of electrical impulses between neurons are responsible for the functions of different parts of the brain.
Serotonin is one of these chemicals that is produced in the brain. When serotonin is released from neurons, it stimulates other neurons, then is pumped back to brain cells and recovered.
Serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), including citalopram, increase serotonin levels in the space between neurons. This will help relieve the symptoms of depression and panic attacks in many people.
