What is Andozix?
Indications
Testosterone is used to treat androgen deficiency due to primary hypogonadism, delayed puberty in men, breast cancer, anemia, growth retardation, liken sclerosus and microcephaly.
Andozix Mechanism of action
In the target tissue cell, testosterone is converted to 5-alpha dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. Testosterone and DHT bind to receptors in the cytoplasm and collectively bind to specific sites in the cell nucleus. The steroid-receptor complex begins transcription and eventually increases protein production.
Pharmacokinetics
Like other testosterone esters, enanthate is first hydrolyzed to the active form of free testosterone, which may itself be converted to the two major active metabolites, DHT and estradiol. The duration of action of the drug is longer than other testosterone esters and its half-life is about 10-15 days. Drug metabolism is hepatic and metabolites are mainly excreted in the urine. Due to the presence of the hepato-intestinal cycle, some of the drug is excreted in the feces.
