Do you know the difference between an introvert and an extrovert?
It seems pretty clear cut – introverts dislike social situations and don’t have many friends, whilst extroverts love spending time with as many different people as they can find… right?
Well, it’s not quite as simple as that.
Introversion and extroversion are more like two ends of a sliding scale with every possible type of personality sitting somewhere along its length (with the mysterious ambivert hovering somewhere around the middle!).
It’s also actually possible to become more of an introvert at certain times or in certain situations, whilst at others, your more extroverted tendencies shine through. Maybe you act more introverted in big groups of more than, say three people, but when you’re at home on your own patch, you’re much more outgoing? Or maybe you’re actually more extroverted around people you don’t know very well, and tend to clam up when you’re around that person you’ve known for years?
